I have a raw file of scanned pages of a one-shot of hers that has not been scanlated. One translator I work with wouldn't touch it for it's NSFW aspect and the other is having IRL issues. Since it is Kuzushiro her description was "kuzushiro likes writing fucked up shit :p" I can do the cleaning and leveling unless someone wants to pick up the whole thing.

It looks like the file you linked is the third volume of "Ashinagu" by Kozaki Ai. It looks like a sports series about girls using naginata.

Scripts: http://www.mediafire.com/?k298ocbshsnpko9

Use a text editor to open these UTF files.

Style guide used in past translations:
Stuttering is recorded with one letter each.
Keep the case of the first letter throughout each stutter.
Six dots maximum in groups of three, except in long transitions.
Use past tense to describe events that are happening and present tense to state facts or thoughts.
No second person narration.
Avoid stock translations: "It can't be helped", "As expected of...", etc.
― for trailing off or truncation.
~ or extra letters for extension.
Connect words by ellipses ... only if they're part of the same sentence. Separate by a space otherwise.
Do not strictly follow original punctuation if it makes the translation awkward to read.
Ignore all of the above for vocalizations.
The full name of the school is "St. Michael's School For Girls". The short name is "St. Michael's".

Sorry for having been so quiet. Just been fixing some stuff and adding in SFX at work, haven't been going through to check it cause TBQH I'm kinda sick of it >_> Just gotta go through and read it properly one more time to make sure I didn't break anything with all the edits, there were -a lot- in s012 and s017, the former having lots of sfx to fix up and the later just having them removed entirely so added in checking from the Jp lines.

It actually occurred to me that I was in fact really, really stupid lol. I should have been searching for other instances of the same SFX (from where they were done in this one and checking in the final script for SonoHana9) and copying over the translations appropriately.
Bunch of random noises that I just left as-is. Stuff like kufuun, nfuu, kuann, hyaun, hiin, nguu, nkyu.

I'm certain I got all the double spaces, fixed all the ellipses, the remaining typos and adjusted all the parts I thought were worded a bit poorly or strangely and all that stuff. But as said, need to check again to make sure, after all the edits, that everything still fits well.

Oh and altered a few instances of lines like this: talking directly to Eris "Even if Eris says such a thing" or whatever, couldn't remember a specific example but that sort of thing bugs the hell out of me, especially being a bit too common in translations.

I'll try to read through it again to finish up.

Seeing as the last MSD posted here is quite out of date, I went and compiled the latest scripts on the Wiki, which should have Massaca's edits included.

http://petalsgarden.axypb.net/2013/01/25/yurin-yurin-official-website-2/

We have concluded from Yurin Yurin's lack of response to multiple inquiries on the localization talks that they are uninterested in an official English localization at this time. This, combined with their inaction toward the English translation patches despite their knowledge of it, has led us to conclude that translating their works is safe. Therefore, I will begin work on this visual novel immediately.

With this release, Yurin Yurin has switched from the proprietary MScenario engine to the much more robust KiriKiri2/KAG3 engine. It is very well documented and tools are available from TLWiki: http://tlwiki.org/index.php?title=Tools#KiriKiri2.2FKAG3

All work on this visual novel can be accomplished with Kikiriki: http://tlwiki.org/index.php?title=File:Kikiriki.rar

Compared to previous releases, translating Lovers of the Atelier will be extremely trivial. All files are in easily-readable graphic and plaintext formats with no encryption of any kind short of that used in the data.xp3 file itself, which Kikiriki can readily handle. Rather than overwriting files, the entire program can be patched simply by including patch.xp3 files in the directory. I've prepared two for the translation. The first, patch.xp3, converts the system scripts to UTF-16 LE and changes the window titles. This also means that non-English translations are potentially possible and Japanese locale will not be needed. The second, patch2.xp3, contains translated scripts and will include translated graphics as well as those are completed. Also included are the scripts themselves with preliminary changes already done, particularly the character name tags.
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?bxtfsfe8xuziumq

To work on the scripts, extract Kikiriki and the above archive to your working directory, make changes in the .src files, and run Recompile.bat or run this command:
kikiriki.exe -c -i scripts -o patch2.xp3

Well, i feel sorry for you to have done a reinsertion job too, i was 8/18 script done when my grammar nazi friend said we had to find an editor for it. We will be done before april fool. 8/18 script has been reinserted and edited, i am currently doing tonight the line breaking and should done done tonight. We got 2 proofreader and 1 idiot which i might use for proofreader too (he's my pawn, i corrupted him in under 6 week from a fucking straight sheep into an inhuman monster). Secret Dragon, the translator, is doing another translation atm, having her with us allow her to have a final project #2 too. I am also currently trying to hack a few engine for Project #3 proposition, for when she's done with her current translation. We got 3 possible third project with either kirikiri or nscripter (if i can enforce 16:9 on it). Hope you will enjoy the edited patch we are currently doing and our project #2. Our Team name will be Broken Dragon Translation and we are Yuri focused atm. The website will be published when we are done.

This might not really related, but assuming the kerning of characters were all the same, I think breaking line can be done automatically with small script / program

I did make small program, I didn't check whole dialog yet but it turns out to be fine

In order to make it look bit prettier, I break the line around 60 - 65 characters, short word like "I", "a" or "an" would go for 65 character and the rest will be 60 characters per line

I'm not entirely sure how things work here, so apologies if this is the wrong way to go about this. I was wondering if anyone wanted to translate and edit these:

https://e-hentai.org/g/1320286/fe3a3f03ef/

https://e-hentai.org/g/1204220/e6cbd5aa5a/

I have zero ability to do either. Just hoping someone else will do the hard work so I can read them in English. Obviously not looking for any kind of credit (since I didn't even upload them). Again, sorry if that's not how things work here.

Here are some recommended changes. Don't forget the hyphen position change from >>5544 .

There are a few general things I noticed. I drew attention to specific instances of these early on, but they recur throughout the chapter. I'm going to give a brief summary on some of the points I think are most important for this edit below; for more detailed information and examples, I recommend Anon Black's Typesetting Guide ( http://prettyanonymo.us/index.php/scanlation-resources/anonblacks-typesetting-guide/ ) and Red Hawk Scanlations' guide ( https://fallensyndicate.wordpress.com/typesetting-tutorial/ ), if you weren't already familiar with them.

Here are some of the main things I think are most important to focus on for this chapter:

・Text shaping. Ideally, the shape of the text matches the shape of its container. Rounder if it's in a circular bubble, more rectangular if it's in a square caption. A lot of the text in this edit has a sort of hourglass shape: thinner in the center than it is at the top or bottom. This is generally a shape to avoid, unless the container is shaped in such a way that it seems natural.
・Lining. Inextricably related to shaping is the practice of deciding where to split a line. Try to avoid "orphans," or a single word on a particular line; this can lead to hourglasses, or one line that really stands out against the lines above and below it.

Side note: I'm guessing that you used a lot of text boxes when typesetting this. Here ( http://prettyanonymo.us/index.php/scanlation-resources/anonblacks-typesetting-guide/typesetting-201-lining/ ), Anon Black explains why text boxes should used only sparingly, and what Photoshop calls "point text" should be used as a rule.

・Text size. You don't always want to take up as much space in a bubble as you can. In general, text should be the same size, not varying by more than two or three pts except for dramatic effect. Just because the bubble is larger, that doesn't mean the text has to be larger; the original Japanese text often doesn't take up even nearly all the space in a bubble.

Thank you for all your work. We're not quite ready for a release yet, but we're definitely getting there.
